Chapter 250 The Waterbed Mishap: Chaos and Lessons Learned

The waterbed burst.

With a loud noise, water spurted out of a hole.

All of Susie's painting materials on the foot of the bed were knocked over, and for a moment, all the colors mixed together. The carpet on the floor was also wet, and everything was in a mess.

Susie, Lucy, Zion, and Wade lay on the bed with confused expressions, drenched from head to toe. The blankets and pillows were all wet as well.

The power socket that was hit by the water made a sizzling sound, and then there was a short circuit, causing smoke to immediately fill the air.

Alex, who was asleep, was startled and started thrashing around. He screamed, "Help! Help! We're really on fire this time!"

The entire Murray family estate was plunged into darkness.

Hamza remained silent.

Half a minute later, the backup power supply kicked in, and the electrician urgently started to repair the damage.

Mrs. Alana rushed over and saw the terrible state of the room. Her blood pressure immediately skyrocketed.

"Who did this?!" Mrs. Alana exclaimed.

The children all hung their heads, not daring to say a word.

Susie cautiously raised her hand and said, "Grandma Chloe, it was Susie's bad idea."

Mrs. Alana remained silent.

Lucy quickly added, "I'm also responsible!"

Wade stepped forward and said, "I did all of it."

Zion said, "I also had a hand in it."

Hamza remained silent for a while, but in the end, as the oldest, he took the blame.

"Grandma, I made the waterbed. My little siblings don't know any better, and it's my fault for not setting a good example."

Poor Hamza didn't even do anything wrong, but he took all the blame.

Mrs. Alana glared and said, "All of you, go stand in the corner! Wait, change your clothes first, and wear a basin on your head when you go stand in the corner!"

The children obediently changed their clothes and lined up against the wall, each with a basin on their head and their hands on both sides. They stood there honestly.

When Martin, Kellen, and the others arrived, they saw a row of children standing in the hallway.

Each one wore a basin on their head and stood pitifully in the corner.

This was really... everyone's fault.

Clara couldn't help but burst out laughing at the sight of this group of little carrots being punished to stand.

She suddenly remembered when she was punished to stand as a child, and her brothers were also there with her.

She never thought that after more than ten or twenty years, she would be able to see such a scene again.

It's no wonder her mother still has a sharp tongue.

Kellen asked jokingly, "What happened? Did you guys dismantle a circuit board?"

Susie honestly replied, "Daddy, no! We just made a waterbed, and then rolled around on it. The waterbed burst..."

Lucy innocently added, "And then the water splashed into the socket..."

Zion shrugged, "And then the whole circuit short-circuited and burned."

Wade said, "Uh, it's because the waterbed I made wasn't sturdy enough... I know, it must be the wrong material."

Lucy said, "I think it's because the seal wasn't tight enough!"

Susie said, "I think it's because I'm too heavy! And we shouldn't have rolled around so much."

The children chattered and discussed why the waterbed broke, and summarized their experience, deciding to use two layers of plastic bags for the next one...

Even when they were punished to stand, they couldn't keep their mouths shut.

Mrs. Alana's temple throbbed as she glared at Martin and Kellen, "What waterbed? What rolling around... How do the children know these things?"

Martin and Kellen remained silent.

This is really unfair!

"One day after another, what have you been teaching her outside? I'm getting old and can't control you anymore. Hurry up and go stand over there!" Mrs. Alana continued.

Martin and Kellen shouldn't be here; they should be in the room.

So, in the line of little carrots, there were now two tall figures...

The children blinked and looked curiously at their dad (uncle) and Uncle Martin (dad/uncle).

It's strange. Why are Dad (uncle) and Uncle Martin (dad/uncle) being punished to stand too?

Clara almost laughed until she couldn't breathe, and Mitch's mouth never stopped twitching.

Alex stood by the window, still in shock. He shook his head and sang, "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe "

Everyone else just stared at him.

After all the chaos, it finally ended with Mrs. Alana promising to buy Susie a water bed.

However, to prevent her from catching a cold, a rule was set that she could only play with it during the day.

From this incident, Susie learned a lesson, if she did something wrong, she would be punished and even her father's or Uncle Martin's intervention wouldn't work.

In this family, Grandma Chloe held the highest status, and no one could provoke her.

Clara looked at everything before her - it was warm, cozy, and filled with happiness and joy. Unfortunately, she could no longer be a part of it.

The children had just started their summer vacation today, and it was less than two months away from the Hungry Ghost Festival on July 14th.

Clara had been hesitating whether or not to see the old woman again, whether or not to live with them again for a while.

She wanted to say goodbye properly, but she was also afraid that if she stayed with them for a while, the old woman would have to face another goodbye and the peaceful life that had just settled down would be disrupted once again.

"Maybe this is the best way," Clara muttered.

The happier the Murray family became, the less she should see them. That's why she had been dragging her feet, one day at a time, trying to detach herself and trying to make them forget about her...

At night, Susie slept temporarily in the same room as Lucy.

Mrs. Alana came to check if they were asleep, and found that Lucy was already sound asleep while Susie was still awake.

Mrs. Alana asked, "What are you thinking about?"

She began to regret whether she had punished Susie too severely earlier.

Susie replied, "Grandma Chloe, do you miss Mommy?"

Just now, she was watching her mom laughing and suddenly seemed a bit lost.

Susie knew that her mom was afraid of Grandma Chloe getting upset, so she didn't dare to see her again.

Would Grandma Chloe want to see her mom again?

Mrs. Alana patted Susie's head, feeling extremely heartbroken, "Do you miss your mom, Susie? Grandma Chloe also misses your mom, but it's okay. Your mom is always living in our hearts..."

Susie looked up at her, "Grandma Chloe, do you want to see my mom?"

Mrs. Alana's face was gentle, she didn't say whether she wanted to see her or not, she just said, "Go to sleep."

She was already very old.

When she grows old, she can see her Clara again! So, it doesn't matter whether she sees her or not, what's more important is that her Susie is doing well.

Susie pursed her lips, her mom is preparing to be reincarnated, and no one will be able to see her in the future.

But her mom has only met Uncle Martin, and both her mom and Grandma Chloe seem to be afraid of seeing each other again...why is that?

Little Susie couldn't figure out these complex emotions of adults, gradually closed her eyes and sank into a dream.

Lucy next to her turned over and breathed...breathed...breathed...

Mrs. Alana smiled, covered the two children with a thin blanket, adjusted the air conditioning, and then went out.

Clara was standing at the door and couldn't help but whisper, "Mom..." Mrs. Alana didn't see anything, but she felt that strange feeling in her heart again.

She whispered, "Clara, mom knows you must be here, always here, right?" "As long as mom knows this, it's enough."

She didn't expect to meet, she just hoped that everyone was doing well, Susie was doing well, Clara was doing well, and the children were all doing well...that's enough.

Clara looked at Mrs. Alana's staggering figure and suddenly understood that seeing or not seeing is just a choice, not necessarily a result...
